Sometimes what holds us is what sooths us.
“YOLO” 16” x 20” Acrylic plays on the popular you only live once phase. If there was ever a time to plow through an enormous freakshake rather than sharing to the gram it would be when the sky is literally falling.
“21.3%” Acrylic canvas 20” x 24”. Display of bright shiny doughnuts and other baked goods line a cafeteria table creating a tempestuous mouth watering display for an 8th grade bake sale. 21.3% of goodies are dip sprinkled with an assortment of narcotics creating. That happens to also be the percentage of 8th graders who have tried elicit drugs at least once according to a 2020 National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics. So for all those PDA parents who say they don’t need to talk to their kids about drugs…well Susan you might as well bring some narcotic laced goodies to your middle school baked sale.

“Macaron Madness” depicts a hand holding a mouthwatering multi-color mound of macaron” delights. Underneath the sweetness of this macaron tower is the bitter realization someone who values zero-calorie deserts over health hazards is the macaron maker.
16” x 20” Acrylic Canvas illustrates a bittersweet scene from a movie theater and it’s glorious snacks. Multiple stories are present and up to the viewer to discern. Initially the viewer might be drawn to the older man middle right row and get a creepy clown vibe. Then the eyes move to the couple in the middle row who might at first glance be your typical movie date couple. Is their eccess of delicious saccharine and butter filled snacks combined with exciting cinema not enough to diminish their social anxiety and need to be phone scrolling? Maybe the “creepy clown guy” is just a regular guy after trying to enjoy his movie despite terrible seat neighbors bothering him?

“Nostalgia in a Tin” dramatically illustrates the nostalgic bittersweetness and global solidarity remembering our childhood moments of opening a gleaming tin of cookies. Instead to find….sewing supplies. And yet didn’t we keep on checking…thinking one day there would be cookies? Yet the lace, shiny pins and adorable strawberry sharpeners were a different level of satisfaction.

“Always With Us” is a bright pop art style portrait of the artist and her long time friend. The sweetness is created with whimsical playful laughter and enormous lollipops reminding us of carefree childhood-like friendships. Bitterness is illustrated by adult stresses that are always over us - never ending financial stress, caring for our children, and our children having chronic health issues are just a few things always “in our hair”.
Inspired by the ferocious perpetual appetite of consumers who blindly ingest without thought of consequences. “Sweet Consumption” playfully illustrates this commentary in a trendy pop art style.
